Small does not mean unregulated

An outbuilding can still require a permit, and older structures can still hold asbestos — transite siding and roofing panels on farm buildings are the classic case. A 1962 barn with corrugated cement-board panels is not a job to attack with a chainsaw and a burn pile.

Barns are their own thing

Older barns hold value. Heart pine timbers, hand-hewn beams and weathered board have a resale market, and salvage-minded deconstruction can offset part of the cost. It is slower than knocking it flat, but on a genuinely old structure the numbers can work. Tell us if that interests you before we quote.

Burning is not the cheap option

Open burning of demolition debris is restricted in North Carolina and the rules are enforced. It is not a way to save money. We haul to permitted facilities.
